Three Examples of Glamour in today’s Ads
This first video, is a textbook example of the use of glamour in advertising. Many of the other TAG Body Spray Commercials exploit sexual envy among men. The main “character” of many, if not all, of these commercials is placed in a situation where he is the object of desire of many women.

This sneaker advertisement intriqued me. The glamour and envy seem extremely misplaced. The sneakers seem to have absolutely no connection to the barely clothed woman. The popularity of Nike sneakers speak otherwise. Perhaps this is an experiment to prove that the name is actually what is selling the product.

Rounding out these three example is the beer advertisement pictured above. As you can see, many of today’s advertisments exploit sexual envy and desire. To see a beer ad today pictured with an scantily clad woman is quite common and oftentimes expected. The envy contained in the glamour of sexual content generates a particularly strong desire that the viewer may then associated with the product.
